I Am Going To Do A Detox Diet But I Have Urine And Blood Work For A Study. Will They Show Up On The Test?
Here is everything I am taking: Milk Thistle, CLA, Multi-Vitamin, Herbal Regularity Laxatives, Omega 3 Fish Oils, Green Tea Extract with Hoodia, and a Cleansing Fiber Blend. Couldn’t I technically just be eating foods with these amounts? My medical study says I can’t take herbal supplements but I don’t know if they would test if I am taking them. Would it disturb any of my blood levels? Thanks.

Detox diets Dehydrate the individual and the ‘cleansing fibre blends’ can be corrosive on the gut wall. And You have mentioned Two lots of fibre/regularity components in your ‘diet’.
Detox diets are also not necessary if you have a functioning liver, kidneys and immune system. Which I am sure you do !
Eat healthy ALL the time and try to get your Omega 3s from food sources.
Detox diets can upset your Blood Sugar Levels, cause Muscle Breakdown and your Urea and Electrolytes will definitely get out of whack !
Please do let them know what you are taking! It could mess up their study. It might lead to them excluding you, depending on what it is they’re studying.
Personally, I don’t believe in detox, but if you want to do it, you certainly have a right to.
I just think people should know that even if someting is called “herbal” or “natural” or “vitamin”, that doesn’t mean it’s always perfectly safe to use. Many “natural” substances can affect the liver, and alter its metabolism of other substances. This is especially important to know when you are taking prescription drugs – a herbal medicine might then make the drug stay in your body for a much longer (increasing risk of side effects) or a much shorter (the drug no longer has any effect) time than usual.
Sorry about the lecture. I don’t know so much about the things you are taking. They’re probably harmless. But anyway, they are not inert, their concentrations might be very different from what you would get if you just ate food with them in it, and they might affect whatever it is they are looking for in the study. So please let them know!
